Politicians on Saturday trouped to the Tom Mboya Hall in Nairobi to console the Sinai fire tragedy victims. Many accused the Government and called for the resignation of Kenya Pipeline Company (KPL) Managing Director Selest Kilinda. Led by Eldoret North MP William Ruto the leaders said the Coalition Government has failed to protect the lives of Kenyans and maintained they would ensure that victims of the tragedy are compensated.
Mr Ruto accused the Government of failing to protect the lives of those living in informal settlements. He said the explosion was due to negligence by KPL and they must take responsibility and fully compensate the victims. He challenged KPL to avoid shifting blame arguing that without them the tragedy would not have occurred.
Mr Ruto faulted the Government for having failed to protect the lives of those living in informal settlements, saying they would make sure the Sinai victims are not abandoned like the Mau victims. He said it was the constitutional responsibility of the government to ensure that people get decent housing. He maintained it was time the grand coalition government put its acts together and avoid pretending that everything is normal.Last Edited: Tue 20th September 2011 at 09:19:45 AM
