More Civil Society Activists Arrested
More Civil Society activists were arrested outside CID Headquarters on Kiambu Road where they had gone to show solidarity with Health Minister Charity Ngilu who was summoned for questioning over a Tuesday night incident at central Police Station, Nairobi, during which Mrs. Ngilu intervened to protect Ann Njogu, a prominent civil society leader, from police brutality and thereafter drove her to hospital. The arrested activists are Kepta Ombati, Wangui Mbatia, Abel Okundi, Fwamba NC Fwamba, Hassan Indusa, Eddie Mwangu, Keli Musyoka, Robert Ondari, Patrick Kamotho and Phillo Ikonya. They spent the night at the Muthaiga Police Station and are now at the Makadara Law Court.Hon. Ngilu was released on a free bail at about midnight last night after a gruelling quizzing. She is currently at Mazingira House this morning, demanding with her lawyers, Wanyiri Kihoro and Paul Muite to be taken to court.
