News By SARAH KAMAU and BEN MAKAU WORLD BANK' is willing to help Kenya recover billions of shillings stashed abroad, the bank's country director Colin Bruce said yesterday. Bruce said the bank was ready to support the Government through the newly-launched global Stolen .Asset Recovery Initiative (STAR) to recover Money looted by allegedly corrupt Government leaders. The joint UN-World Bank scheme aims to foster relations between developed and developing nations to ensure assets are returned to their rightful owners. “ The new initiative aims to make it easier for developing countries to recover money they often need badly,” He told reporters at the World Bank offices in Nairobi yesterday during The launch of a six weeks awareness period on What the bank is doing in the country. |
